A Memory Map to Remember the Places of Resistance

On Saturday, April 14th, the 'Memory Map' was presented at the social center 'Il Tondo' in Lugo, a special map that encompasses the key locations of the Resistance, to which ICEL contributed.

It's an interactive map of the plaques commemorating the fallen of the Resistance in Lugo, which we believe can serve all citizens to remember our history.

This innovative tool was created by students from middle schools in Lugo as part of a project promoted by the municipal coordination of the ANPI sections of the Municipality of Lugo. Over the past few months, the students have mapped the plaques of the fallen, creating for each of them cards containing historical information, photos, testimonials, and more.

The final goal is to create 'memory trails' to connect the Gothic Line with all the places where massacres of partisans and anti-fascists occurred.

The result will be an interactive consultation tool that, after a careful review of the data entered by the Historical Institute of Resistance and Contemporary Age of Ravenna and its province, can be accessed online by anyone on computers, smartphones, and tablets.

The map was presented by the students, with the collaboration of Sara Cortesi and Luigi Savorani from the ANPI of Giovecca. At Saturday's presentation, ICEL's president Andrea Babini was present, along with the mayor of Lugo Davide Ranalli, regional councilor Mirco Bagnari, and Agostina Melucci, head of the territorial school office of Ravenna
